7 Questions with Attorney Christopher H. Tovar
Who are you?
I am a lawyer who handles employment cases in the securities industry.
Who do you represent?
Stockbrokers, also known as FINRA associated persons.
What led you to this work?
I started in the securities industry as a broker, and got to see how investment firms treat their employees. Basically, management thinks brokers are all whores. It was no better working as in-house counsel, so I started my own law firm representing brokers. Against management.
What motivates you to do what you do?
I hate seeing people get screwed over by shitty bosses. It pisses me off.
What do you do when you are not working as an attorney?
I hang out with my wife, Siobhan, also an attorney, and our dog Milo, the cutest pitbull you ever met. Sometimes I write haiku or make up stories about celebrities I can’t stand.
If you weren’t an attorney, what would you be doing?
I was once Rum Tum Tugger in a traveling company of Cats, so it would have to be the theater for me. “Meow, meow, meow…”
